Benjamin SmithBenjamin is a first-year student at Wake Forest University School of Divinity, where he is pursuing a Master of Divinity with a concentration in food justice. Originally from Jackson, Mississippi, he daydreams in class about founding a nonprofit urban farm in his hometown as a faithful response to the tide of industrial agriculture in the Deep South. A Baptist member of the LGBTQ community, he believes in the reclamation of liturgy in Baptist churches as a tool for social and ecological transformation.

He attended undergrad at Mississippi College and grew up affiliated with the Alliance of Baptists and Cooperative Baptist Fellowship. In his free time, you can find him hiking, biking, hanging out with friends, watching Netflix, fermenting foods, creating hymns, and brewing Kombucha. He is supported by his family, friends, and caring boyfriend!
